Ubisoft+ only charges you once a month for your monthly subscription, but you might be seeing multiple charges for reasons described below. When you sign up for Ubisoft+, we send an authorisation request to your financial institution to ensure the payment method is valid (as in, has a valid number, and has not been reported lost or stolen). This request appears as an authorisation for roughly the same amount as your subscription. It is an important step to protect our customers. While this request is processed, the funds are not transferred to Ubisoft, but put on hold. This temporary hold is cancelled daily by Ubisoft, though it may take more time for your financial institution to release the funds back to you. They will be able to give you more information about authorisation holds policy. In some specific situations (such as if the initial payment fails to complete due to insufficient funds) our system will automatically attempt to take the payment again over the course of a week. As mentioned previously, we cancel each temporary hold on a daily basis, though you may find that the previously unsuccessful payments still appear on your account. You may see up to multiple charges while your payment is being processed, but any funds held during this period will be returned to you. I was using payment method A and I've changed it to payment method B while my subscription is active. • Your payment method will be immediately changed and effective. The payment method B will be used for next billing periods (including the current one). When you change your payment method, an authorisation for 0.01$ is done on this new payment method in order to validate it. • There will be no charge for the new billing period on payment method A and you can remove it from your account. I have multiple payments on my account but I cannot access the service! • This could happen if the service has been suspended. These charges are payments that cannot be processed, meaning that your payment for this month cannot be taken. For more information, please have a look at our Suspended Ubisoft+ subscription article. If you have any concerns over a charge, please don't hesitate to let us know!

I recently purchased RS 2014 on Steam, along with a physical copy of RS1 (to get the cable and to justify spending the extra $10 on Steam to enable the ability to get all the RS1 songs) at a brick and mortar store. Both are activated on Steam, but only RS 2014 is installed. I dusted off my bass guitar- poor thing hadn't been touched in years; I've been a neglectful musician- and plugged it into the proprietary Ubisoft cable thing. It took a long time for my Win 7 PC to recognize the cable, but it did, and when I plucked some strings it appeared to recognize sound coming in (although playing it while recording via the Windows sound recorder didn't produce anything even close to audible. If I get the game to launch I may be posting another question about the game not picking up any guitar sounds). I clicked on Rocksmith 2014 in Steam for the first time, which in turn launched UPlay, which I apparently already had an account for despite me being unable to remember the last Ubisoft game I played on PC, and eventually launched the game. So far so good.

Opening screen fading looks a little laggy, but I have a million things open on this computer and it's the first launch of the game so no big deal. Oh, you want me to create a profile? That's perfectly sensible, let me type in my name here and press Enter. Okay, 'Creating Profi'- suddenly back to desktop and 'Rocksmith2014.exe has crashed, blah blah you can attempt to do nearly useless stuff because you have Visual Studio installed (namely debug the program)'. Okay, well, crap.

Maybe that was just a fluke. It wouldn't be the first time a newly installed Steam game has done something weird upon first launch. Let's launch it again! But this time, since UPlay is still open from the last launch, I'll try and launch it by hitting the giant Play button in that. Game launches, gets to profile screen, and hey! The profile I created is sitting there, so I guess that actually worked. I click on it, similar process as before, going through a few pop up windows until it hits something about 'Connecting to Ubisoft Server' or somesuch, at which point it hangs for a few seconds and then crashes to desktop, again.

Obviously, there's a problem. Time to find a solution. First step, UPlay has a 'Help' button prominently displayed on its main screen.

I click that. Unfortunately, it directs me to what appears to be a nonexistent website, ubisoft.custhelp.com (specific URL:). A couple people seem to report similar issues, but no one has anything close to a solution.

Turns out Steam doesn't have a forum for the game specifically, just a catchall forum for all Ubisoft products. There are apparently only 3 threads in the entire Ubisoft section of that forum that contain the string 'Rocksmith' in either the title or body of the thread, and none of them are about this issue. So I Googled Ubisoft support, found their site and submitted a question regarding the issue, including one of the 2.mdmp files my computer created due to Visual Studio being installed. I kept searching, and now I'm here, with my bass sitting next to me instead of being used w/ RS to learn how to play the bass part to 'Redneck' by Lamb of God as I intended on doing. Computer specs: AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.20 GHz 4 GB RAM 1 TB hard drive (only 20 GB free, I have an absurd amount of Steam games installed, among other things) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti video card Windows 7 Professional 64-bit w/ SP1 I can't think of any other relevant specs or info to include, but if anyone has any ideas as to how to fix this, wants more info, or has even had something close to a similar problem themselves, please let me know.

TL;DR- Game crashes every single time I try to select or create a profile. You will probably find more help here than on the Steam forums. I don't use Steam, I play on the 360, but I seem to recall a similar problem not too long ago. Have you tried ending the Uplay process manually? I think that caused some issue with some people launching the game. Hopefully someone that uses Steam will be able to provide some more direct assistance. You are correct with regards to the Steam forums; Valve will not provide anything more than the most basic tech support for games by another developer, and as I said above, there are only 3 threads in the entire forum with the string 'Rocksmith' in them, so it's not a topic that is being discussed anywhere near as much as the official forums here on ubi.com.

I am not sure what you meant by ending the UPlay process manually; are you suggesting I Alt+Tab out of the game once it's launched and force close UPlay before picking a profile in-game? I'd try it, but after following the directions from Ubisoft support, the situation has taken a turn for the worse- I'll get to that in a moment.

Game crashes every single time I try to select or create a profile. +1 I have exactly the same problem.

Updated nvidia drivers, reinstalled dx. Nothing helped! Game crashes when clicking on ' create a profile' Sorry to hear that gelbevierzehn; hopefully between the two of us we can find a solution.

What're your system specs? Have you filed a ticket with? - I've been trading messages with someone @ Ubisoft support. A couple suggestions have been given, but so far none have worked.

And actually, I'm now in a worse position than before. I'll post the messages containing the support rep's suggestions first.

Hi ekoolaid, At this point, you need to verify the integrity of your game's install files. Follow the steps below to accomplish this: -Access your game Library in Steam and right click the Game name -Click Properties -Navigate to the Local Files tab and click 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' at the bottom This typically forces updates to the game data which should resolve your problem. If you continue to have issues, please let me know what I will be glad to help. This did not solve the problem, although Steam did find one file that failed the test and had to be redownloaded. Hi ekoolaid, I am sorry to hear you are having issues in the Uplay PC Client. Start by updating any anti-virus or personal firewall software that may be installed to your computer system. This includes your windows firewall as well as updating the firmware for your home router.

If updating these programs does not resolve the issue, you may need to temporarily shut-down the associated program or bypass the router and establish a direct connection to your modem. If it is not possible to shut-down your firewall, you will need to configure your router or firewall to allow the following network ports for the best possible connection: Uplay PC Client TCP: 80, 443, 13000, 14000, 14008 Directions for configuring network ports are specific to the software and hardware being used, and can be found by visiting the manufacturers website. You may also encounter problems due to applications running in the background on your computer system. When playing Ubisoft games, please be sure to close all running background applications before starting your game. You can find the steps for this listed below.

Update: After following Ubisoft support's directions in regards to disabling startup items (see last quote in previous post) in msconfig, Steam, Skype, and Adobe Flash all stopped working, and have not started working again despite undoing everything the support rep told me to do- including re-enabling the things I mentioned in my last post that I thought didn't need to be set to launch at Windows startup and did not re-enable. No freaking clue. It makes no sense to me. All I wanna do is learn to play my bass better. I'm still working with Steam support to at least figure out why it won't launch, Skype and Flash I haven't done anything with yet, but tomorrow I'll probably uninstall and reinstall them. If that works, I'll edit this post. (EDIT: Uninstalled all three and reinstalled them, still experiencing the same issues) This upcoming week, whenever Ubisoft support responds to my last message to them, I'll post it here in a new post.

If you have or had or even thought you might have a similar issue with Rocksmith, please speak up, especially if you got the game to work properly. I just paid $120 USD for this product (including the physical copy of RS1 to get the cable, not including the extra $10 for the disc import tool to grab the songs from it), and I'd really, really like for it to function. Like I said, all I wanna do is learn to play my bass better. The other programs starting to fail to launch after troubleshooting this product may just be coincidental, but it's a strange (and imo unlikely) coincidence, but I'm not even holding that against Ubisoft; I'll just be happy when I can play the game and the rest of my computer operates as it did before I spent a not-insignificant amount of money on the damn thing (none of which I could get back, as neither my digital Steam copy of RS2014 nor my opened, activated physical copy of RS1 are returnable at this point- not that I want to return them). Hey ekoolaid, I was able to start the game after 1000 attemps (at least.) The game crashed always in the profile selection menu. The error log (gamestarterlog) in the UBIsoft Game Launcher folder shows after each crash the following line: 5020 2013-11-15 23:01:06 5036 ERROR UplayConnection.cpp (73) Failed to open pipe, bailing So it must be some kind of connection problem with Uplay and if you read through the forums, it seems to be an issue with the combination of steam and Uplay. I activated steam Beta from the steam settings menu and after the update Rocksmith does not crash anymore.

I don't know if that was the main root cause, as I deactivated also a couple of HID devices in the device manager, but after the steam update the game is running flawless. Cheers from Germany.

My head hurts and I'm totally lost. I'm having this same problem, where I get through the initial loading screen then it wants me to sign into uplay, then it just stops working. Message= rocksmith.exe has stopped working windows is searching for a solution to the problem.

I'm reading through all these procedures, which I do not know in the slightest bit how to begin employing. Apparently video games have totally passed me. I remember when you could go to the store, buy a cool game, install it from a disc and it would work forever. Now every game I want runs through steam. I've purchased 9 games that run through steam. 2 of them I have never been able to play. One of them I played for about a year and a half and now it won't play.

I just bought Rocksmith 2014 and it won't play. I just feel like if I spend $80 on a game I shouldn't have to reprogram my computer to play it. If anyone can refer me to a line of troubleshooting that has a sensible 1st step rather than just randomly trying these fixes I would be willing to take the time to work through it, otherwise I'm cutting my losses. I'll just go back to playing old games through DOSBox or something- at least those games always work. Currently I cannot even get steam to load so I'm out everything I spent on 9 games.
