Remember that pesky little punctuation mark, the comma? The problem with strings is that they often contain commas. The INPUT statement interprets the comma in the last name first format as if there are two separate pieces of data--the last name is one piece and the first name is the second piece. Since the program 'sees' two separate pieces of data, but only one variable (name$), it 'assumes' that an entry error has occurred. The message 'Redo from start' is simply prompting the user to enter the data again correctly.

Most was a review for me, but I did pick up some new useful pointers, such as use of 'Create Comparison' and 'Copy' features and when to consider changing the Directional Mix or Time Constraints settings.

Adriane received her MA in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University and Doctorate degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

Julie Bridges

Julie Bridges graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Communication Disorders in 1994, a Certificate in Aging Studies in 1995, and an M.A. in Audiology in 1996. She earned her Au.D. from Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2008. Julie has worked as a clinical audiologist in private practice, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and in the VA Healthcare System, with experience in diagnostic audiometry, hearing aids, electrophysiologic testing, hearing conservation and tinnitus rehabilitation. Julie worked with GN ReSound as a Professional Instructor/Trainer from 1998-2002, and rejoined again in January 2015 as a Consumer Outreach Audiologist for the Midwest region. In her current role, she provides training opportunities and support for hearing healthcare professionals and consumers.
